Silja Meier Burns received her Pilates Certification in 2002 from STOTT PILATES® International Certification Studio in Toronto. Her nine-month, 600+ hour educational course included extensive anatomy and muscle systems training, the full repertoire of Pilates exercises on all pieces of equipment at all levels, anatomical movement technique, Injuries and Special Populations protocols, and a 100 hour apprenticeship. Silja maintains her training through Pilates workshops, trade shows, continuing education courses, and of course, doing the exercises! She is studying for and will complete her ACE certified personal trainer test in August 2017, and is trained to teach Burn at the Barre, a Pilates Sports Center method of ballet-barre fitness class. The combination of her education, her experience as a ballet dancer and teacher, an outdoor adventure enthusiast, and 15 years of Pilates teaching experience has provided Silja with an “eye” for detail in body positioning. She knows the value of executing proper body mechanics to avoid injury, making sure all her clients exercise at a safe but challenging level. She loves humor and having fun, and uses these qualities to share her passion for Pilates and movement with all of her clients.
